Welcome to Airline Soccer, the website for the Global Airline Soccer Nines tournament.
This tournament has become a firm favourite in the sporting calendar for airline vetarans around Asia and beyond. We endeavour to bring friends, old and new, together for bragging rights as 'king of the skies' whilst also helping to promote Friends International's Childsafe campaign.
This tournament was keenly contested in Phuket last year and is returning to Bangkok for 2009. We are delighted that Rattana Bundit Stadium will host the event, taking place Friday 22 May, 2009.
2009 Champions
International FC became the first team to successfully defend the trophy after another strong performance and an impressive 5-1 win in the final.
Friends International Childsafe project
The Friends International Childsafe project leads the way in supporting and rehabilitating the street children around SE Asia beyond.
In 2007, Friends-International’s partner, Mith Samlanh was the only NGO in Cambodia to receive the Best Practice Award for NGO Good Practice by the Cooperation Committee for Cambodia for compliance with all standards in the Code of Ethical Principles and Minimum Standards for NGOs in Cambodia.
2008 Results
Winners of this prestigious event in Phuket, 2008, were International FC, who have been striving for years to get their hands on the coveted trophy. It was a close final against Mile High FC, but the years of teamwork ultimately proved decisive.
2007 Results
The 2007 Champions were tournament regulars SIA CCFC A, beating a determined Singapore Chinese Veterans team in a close final at Phuket's Sarakul Stadium. Aloysius and his dedicated followers of football produced a fine display of near total football.
2005 Result
Tournamant newcomers Sunbelt FC fielded a strong team of seasoned campaigners to overcome allcomers in the relaunch of this friendly football tournament.
